Shopping isn't always that fun

Know what I really hate doing? Trying on bras. I HATE it. No size seems to fit me. I've measured myself, tried different variations of number and cup sizes, and they are just all BLAH. Too tight or loose, swimming in the cup or spilling out of them, creating back bulges or cutting into my shoulders. Argh.

I don't think any men read this blog, but just in case let me warn you to STOP READING NOW!

Okay, just between us ladies...I lost my boobs. No, they didn't just disappear and they aren't sagging down to my waist or anything like that, but I lost about 2 to 2 1/2 cup sizes and so my boobs are looking a bit, well, deflated. Sigh. Nothing I can do about it short of surgery, so onward I go...searching for some uplifting support!

Although it is a tad big in the cup area I did manage to find one that will do, but not until after much drama and a couple of torturous hours in the dressing rooms of both Kohl's and JCPenney. Hopefully I am DONE bra shopping for the next year or so!

So...I think I'm done replacing what I can't fit now. Found my jeans, found my bra, found a winter coat. Finally done shopping and now I can focus on working out again (ahem) so I can continue to fit said bra, jeans, and coat! :)

  1. Missy, bra shopping is the worst. You really lost a lot in that department, didn't you? I hope I do. I hope what you found will work well for you.

I can't buy bras in a regular store. I used to buy bras when I visited my Dad in Denver, as there was a specialty store with fitters who knew what they were doing. I'd buy one from them that fit well, then go home and order the same style for much less at home. When I gained weight, the bras were too small so I used exenders. Now they are getting loose, and I don't know what to do. I just keep praying they'll shrink some more so I can buy locally! lol

You know what the worst thing is? One is shrinking faster than the other. lol I can't believe I just admitted that, but it's true. I hope they even out.

I always wished I were an A cup so I could go braless. lol

  2. Oh my goodness, do you know that one of mine is a bit lopsided, too? Look at the progress pic on my sidebar...you'll see it. :)

Yep, I lost a bit TOO much in that area. From a DD to a B (I think) now. At least that is what I bought. So sad!

  3. Can't wait to lose more of mine! When I'm at goal, I'm going to chop 'em off and lift 'em up - my ultimate present to myself!

  4. Oh I so hope to get down to a B some day! I'm with Jo on wishing I could go braless. Never will happen. Too much gravity now. LOL :)

Glad to hear you were able to find one that you could live with. I hate shopping for bras too. Once I lose all the weight I was thinking about having a bra fitting. Just something about some stranger seeing me bare...I don't know if I can get past that.

  5. I would love to do a 'lift em' type surgery, but no way I could afford that so...

Summer, there was actually a lady there who was doing fittings but I was too chicken to do it. I do NOT want to show my nasty, skin-sagging self to a stranger! I know, I should just suck it up, but it just freaked me out. :)

  6. Oh, I'm with Jo--bra shopping is the worst! I can't normally find what I need at regular stores either. My last great bra was some random item I found at T.J. Maxx. Of course they only had ONE. Now I can't shop there for bras though... They changed from having regular checkout lanes to one big line, and you have to just go up to whatever cashier is free first--you don't know who it's going to be. Sorry, but I can't just lay my 38DDD up there in front of some strange guy. It's female cashiers Only for my "personal" purchases, thank you.

  8. As far as bra fitting goes, I just wonder if they would put the measuring tape around where my boobs *should* be, or way down low where they hang.... or maybe they'd have me just hold them up so they'd get a more accurate measurement. Seriously, how would that work???

And "reduction/lift'em" surgery is my DREAM! I'd have them evened out too;0)

  9. I used to be a C and loved it. Post-Amy I'm a D, AND sagging -- although the term "pendulous" is what comes to mind as I walk around the house in my PJs.

Perhaps if I keep exercising (or start again, rather) and being wise about food, maybe I'll get back to a C. But I don't think anything can be done for sag.

You know how empire waists usually mean the top third of the top is above the line and below the line is two thirds? I'd need to have the line so that two thirds would be on top. Not the same flattering look, for sure.

I had a fitting at Penny's last year and it was pretty inconclusive and frustrating. Then I tried on every single bra (except molded cups and pushups and minimizers) in Kohl's. I have three styles now that more or less work, but all have a disadvantage. The one that fits best (from Penny's) digs in under my chest unless my posture is perfect. One of the others the cup fabric gaps a bit at the sides. The other is a bit too small in the cup.

    Oy.
