It's a sick day around here

Starting off with a random observation: It makes me sad that there are so many moms both on their blogs and on facebook the past few days bemoaning the fact that they are stuck at home when their kids due to a school snow day. I don't get it. I love, love, love spending time with my daughter! Yes, it was a bit tedious back in the days of playing Barbies and watching Dora, but still. To dread a day with your own child is a thought very foreign to me.

On that note, my daughter isn't feeling well at all today, sick with a cold/flu thing. I hate these days! We didn't even attempt to do any school work, and my house work has sadly suffered today as well. Truthfully there's no good reason that I can't go do a load of laundry, but I'm trying to keep the house as still and quiet as I can so that she can rest.

(That's my story and I'm sticking to it!)

Well, I'm off to ignore more chores, attend to my child, and generally be lazy today...

  1. So sorry, Miss.
I hope she's feeling better soon.

I'm with ya on the "lovin' being with my kid". Sometimes I hear parents complaining that they can't stand to be around their children, and I always think... Whose fault is it that they're so "annoying" that you hate to be with them???

We LOVE spending time with the kiddo, and guess what? Even at 12, she loves to hang out with us too. (Not weird to you, but I'm sure it is to a lot of people.)

  2. Which reminds me...Happy Birthday to Leah! I can't remember if I'm early or late, but I think it's this week, right?

  3. ....and I just got your card! (Thank you!) My question was answered. I was only one day late, not too shabby going on memory alone. ;)

  4. I think it's sad, but sometimes I do relate! I don't really want to play Cinderella again... and sometimes when I've planned on something to do with my time alone, to have it taken away is upsetting.

  5. Awwww. I hope your daughter feels better soon. We've been around the house with a sick bug twice now. Yuck! BTW, I know what you mean about moms not wanting to have their kids home with them. I just can't imagine feeling like that. So sad.

  6. Sorry she's not feeling well. :( That's such a bummer! I'm with ya on not getting parents like that. I love every minute I get to spend with my kids and try to always treasure that time. They're only going to be with us for a certain length of time and then they'll be out on their own so we need to enjoy every minute we can! :)
